Naples Tourist Attractions

Naples, Italy is known for several things, one of them is that this is where the pizza originated and another is for its gorgeous coastline and maybe the Amalfi coastline especially. We have listed a few of the activities found on getyourguide.com.

From Naples: Pompeii Ruins & Mount Vesuvius Day Tour

In 79 AD the volcano of Mount Vesuvius erupted leaving the Roman city of Pompeii buried beneath the molten ashes it left behind. On this tour participants get to visit both Mount Vesuvius as well as Pompeii. The adventure begins with participants being collected from their downtown Naples hotel for the ride to Pompeii, which is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The city has been remarkably frozen in time for almost 2,000 years and an expert guide will share stories about the Greek Theatre, the Forum, the Lupanare and the Thermal Baths found here, as well as tell tales about the plaster casts of the bodies of Pompeii people by the disruption.

After the 2-hour tour participants get to enjoy a typical Naples pizza lunch at one of Pompeii’s cafés before the group gets driven close to the summit of Mount Vesuvius for the short walk to the lip of the crater where the views of the Bay of Naples is stunning and the smoke from the active volcano creates a unique atmosphere.

The volcano is considered an active volcano and has erupted more than 50 times since the eruption that buried Pompeii and its sister city, Herculaneum.

The group is expected to be back in Naples at approximately 5.00 PM, depending on traffic conditions and other variables.
